The Speaker of the National Assembly, Honourable Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, received a courtesy visit from the High Commissioner of India, H.E. Mr. Rahul Shrivastava.
The High Commissioner highlighted the existing cordial relations between the two parliaments, emphasising that this visit is essential for renewing the commitment to strengthen cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries. The Speaker expressed her appreciation for the enduring collaboration between the Parliaments over the years, fondly recalling India’s support to SWAPO during the liberation struggle and its continued role as a key development partner in post-independent Namibia.
The High Commissioner also shared details of the upcoming visit by the Prime Minister of India to Namibia, who is expected to address the Namibian Parliament. In response, the Speaker reaffirmed Namibia’s readiness to receive the Indian Premier and to host the delegation.
