The Secretaries of Parliament is attending the Society of Clerks at the Table Seminar in Nairobi, Kenya. The seminar is held under the theme “Promoting adaptive programming in Parliamentary settings as a response to emergency and emerging global, regional and national challenges”. The Society of Clerks-at-the-Table of the Commonwealth Parliaments (SoCATT) was founded in 1932 to provide means by which the Parliamentary practice of various Legislative Chambers of the Commonwealth may be made more accessible to Clerks-at-the-Table, or those having similar duties in any such Legislature in the exercise of their professional duties and to foster, among Officers of Parliament, a mutual interest in their duties, rights and privileges.
CPA Africa Region resolved to allow SoCATT-Africa Region to continually undertake Professional Development Seminars with the aim of fostering professional development of the officers serving as or under the Clerks and Secretaries of the Branches and sub-branches of the Association. During the meeting of the Executive Committee of SoCATT-Africa Region, held in January 2014 hosted by the National Assembly of Tanzania, the Parliament of Kenya hosted the First Professional Development Seminar in 2014.
