
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on International Relations, Defence and Security paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs, led by its Chairperson, James Uerikua.
The delegation was warmly received by the Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Hon. Frans Kapofi; the Deputy Minister, Hon. Dr. Charles Mubita; the Executive Director; and other senior officials of the Ministry.
In his welcoming remarks, Honorable Kapofi, expressed appreciation for the visit and emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Ministry and Parliament. Discussions focused on matters of mutual concern relating to the Defence Force, including challenges faced in fulfilling its mandate and ways in which Members of Parliament can support the Ministry, particularly during the ongoing budget deliberations in Parliament.
The Chairperson thanked the Minister for providing a constructive engagement platform and reaffirmed the Committee’s commitment to continued collaboration on matters relating to defence and veterans’ affairs.
