We say no more discrimination, no more violence and no more bloodshed, enough is enough, one life lost is one too many.
As the legislative body of government, we commemorate and commit ourselves to continue policy advocacy and passing gender sound laws that promote and empower women to be recognized as equal citizens in all spheres of life, from home to the workplace and from the boardroom to law making chambers. The Parliament of the Republic of Namibia shall continuously promote equality for all citizens and ensure no citizen rights are violated and no one is left out. And most importantly, availing equal opportunities to ensure everyone is afforded a chance to be productive citizens in the betterment of our country and in shaping the lives of our people.
Our founding fathers and mothers underscored this undertaking by enacting that “all persons are equal before the law”, into our supreme law, The Constitution. As lawmakers of the 8th Parliament, we ought to uphold every principle enshrined in the Constitution.
To the brave mothers and daughters of our Republic, we appreciate and honour you, your strength and might portrayed every day is a reflection of who we are as a nation, as it is us the sovereigns who make our beloved motherland, “ the Land of the Brave”.
Happy International Women’s Day,
