Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila on Monday signed a book of condolences at the Embassy of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Windhoek after the devastating earthquake that took place in Venezuela in June causing widespread destruction.
During the visit, the speaker called on the international community to continue to support in ‘whatever possible way’ to assist Venezuela to recover from the devastation and forge a way forward.
“We need to work together as an international community to see how the people of Venezuela especially the ones in the affected area to feel secure again going in the future,” the speaker said.She added that the incident is an indication that the world is changing adding that in such times ‘solidarity becomes very important”.
In her message of condolences, the speaker expressed solidarity with the families of the deceased and victims of the earthquake.
“On behalf of myself, the National Assembly and my family, I extend to the people of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela our heartfelt condolences and sympathies for the tragic losses they suffered following the devastating earthquake that hit their country,” she said.
She added, “We express our solidarity with the families of the deceased and victims during this difficult period. We wish a speedy recovery to those who suffered injuries and comfort to the families. May the spirit of the deceased find peaceful resting in eternity and may the spirit of international solidarity pull us together as a global family so that we assist our friends in Venezuela,”

H.E. Dr. Magaly Henríquez González, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Namibia thanked the speaker and the people of Namibia for the solidarity they keep showing for her country.
