The Southern Africa Development Community Organisation of Public Accounts Committees (SADCOPAC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the SADC Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF) to empower Members of Parliament (MPs) from the member states to effectively carry out their functions of oversight over public sector finances as well as promoting good governance in the region.
The MoU serves to recognize the importance and complementarity of the mandate of each partner and therefore seek to strengthen cooperation for mutual interest and common benefit of SADC parliaments and the SADC region at large.
The MOU was signed Monday, 21 February 2022 by the Secretary General of SADCPF Ms Boemo Sekgoma and the Chairperson of the SADCOPAC Hon. Warren Mwambazi at SADCPF in Windhoek.
Hon Mwambazi was accompanied by other SADCOPAC Office Bearers who are on official visit to the Parliament of Namibia to discuss progress made on the implementation of SADCOPAC conference resolutions adopted at the 13th SADCOPAC Annual Conference which was held in Maputo, Mozambique from 9th – 13th October 2017. He was also joined by the members of Public Accounts Committees.
SADCPF aims to provide a platform for parliaments and parliamentarians to promote and improve regional integration in the SADC region, through parliamentary involvement, while SADCOPAC is an autonomous and independent association of Public Accounts Committees from SADC states established in 2003 to promote mutual support, foster the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and experiences, and act as a recognized voice of Public Accounts Committees within SADC community.
