WINDHOEK- Office Bearers and Secretariat from the Southern Africa Development Community Organisation of Public Accounts Committees (SDACOPAC) today (22/02/2022) met with the Speaker of the National Assembly Hon Prof Peter Katjavivi as they continue with their three-day working visit to the parliament of Namibia.
The Speaker has informed the SDACOPAC delegation that the National Assembly is committed to support the work of SADCOPAC in order to fulfill its mandate.
The Chairperson of SADCOPAC Hon. Warren Mwambazi said “for us as SADCOPAC, this is a milestone to see that we collaborate with our member states in the SADC region to ensure that we work together in the transformation of SADC institutions.”
The Annual General Meeting of SADCOPAC which was held in Lilongwe Malawi on 4th November, 2021 tasked the newly appointed Office Bearers and SADCOPAC Secretariat to organise the program to visit Speakers of Parliaments in member states.
The aim of the visit to Namibia is to discuss the role and objectives of SADCOPAC and the progress on the implementation of SADCOPAC conference resolutions adopted at the 13th SADCOPAC Annual Conference which was held in Maputo, Mozambique from 9th – 13th October 2017.
The delegation held a workshop in collaboration with members of the Public Accounts Committee of Namibia, on the progress made on the implementation of such resolutions as well as on Good Practice Guide. It also paid a Courtesy Call the on the Auditor General of Namibia.
SADCOPAC is an autonomous and independent association of Public Accounts Committees from SADC states established to promote mutual support; foster the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and experiences; act as a recognized voice of Public Accounts Committees within SADC community; and promote accountability, good governance and transparency in the SADC states.
