An EU Delegation engaged with the Chairpersons of key Parliamentary Standing Committees of the National Assembly to exchange views on the Namibian–EU Partnership. The consultations centered on Namibia’s economic and social development, civil rights, and other areas of mutual interest.
The Delegation was warmly welcomed by Honourable Ipumbu Shiimi, Chairperson of the Committee on Economy and Industry, Public Administration and Planning. The mission was headed by Mr. Barry Andrews, Chairperson of the Committee, and other Members, together with Mrs. Hilde Vautmans, Chairperson of the European Parliament’s Delegation to the Africa–EU Parliamentary Assembly.
Deliberations further addressed pressing priorities, including the beneficiation of critical minerals, trade facilitation, combating corruption and other illicit activities, strengthening integrated information and communication technology security, addressing youth unemployment, and mitigating the impacts of rural–urban migration.
This engagement underscored the shared commitment of Namibia and the European Union to deepen cooperation in advancing sustainable development, good governance, and inclusive growth.
