The Speaker of the Parliament of Malawi and President of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Region, Rt. Honourable Sameer Suleman, has officially confirmed that Malawi will host the CPA Africa Region Conference and Annual General Meeting in August 2026.
The announcement was made at the official opening of the 90th CPA Executive Committee Meeting held at the Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre in Namibia.
The Speaker expressed his honour and privilege in accepting this responsibility on behalf of the Malawi Branch, and thanked the CPA Africa Region for placing its confidence in the Parliament of Malawi. He also pledged to uphold the high standards expected of the host.
He highlighted that this confirmation positions Malawi at the centre of regional parliamentary dialogue, providing a platform for collaboration, exchange of ideas, and the strengthening of democratic institutions across Africa.
The official opening ceremony was presided over by the Vice President of Namibia, H.E. Lucia Witbooit.
