The Vice Chairperson of the National Council, Emma Muteka, is leading a Namibian parliamentary delegation to the 152nd Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly taking place in Istanbul, Turkey, from 15 to 19 April 2026.
The delegation departed from Hosea Kutako International Airport on Sunday, where they were officially seen off by the Turkish Ambassador to Namibia, Feral Cekerek Oruckaptan.
The Assembly will convene parliamentarians from across the globe under the theme “Nurturing hope, securing peace and ensuring justice for future generations.” Discussions will focus on key global priorities, including peacebuilding, democratic governance, and sustainable development.
Key agenda items include deliberations on post-conflict peacebuilding, sustainable global economic policies, and the election of the Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
The delegation also comprises Members of the National Council, Iswarin Rooi and Bethuel Tjaveondja, who will actively participate in the Assembly’s deliberations and debates.
