The Committee is responsible for assisting the Speaker in consultations with the Minister of Finance, as well as the Director General of the National Planning Commission during the budget consultation process. The Committee duties include examination of:
- Estimates of the State Revenue and Expenditure
- Supplementary and Excess Expenditure
- Reviewing of the Mid-Term Expenditure Framework and budget policy statements
- Appropriation Bills, tax rates, economic policies and public debt.
